We miss an opportunity.
Someone betrays us.
Our job disappears.

The first question that many women ask is "What's wrong with me?" If I was smarter, I would see the breaks when they come along. If I was more lovable, people would treat me better. If I was skilled, my job would be secure.

And a whole raft of other beliefs that ensure we will spiral into a place of self-diminishment when the world delivers us a situation intended to deepen our beliefs about ourselves and the learning that life is guaranteed to offer. You can't learn resilience if you never face obstacles. You can't learn forgiveness if no one ever hurts you. You can't learn empathy if you have never felt the same kind of pain as others.

Every slight by a co-worker; every rejection from a lover; every single loss, is the real lesson being offered by the school of life. If your values are solid and you have a deep core belief in your worthiness, you may take a hit but you will recover. If you know in your heart that your life matters, the triggers become temporary diversions to build your inner strengthen and wisdom.
