No matter what ... I'll be okay.
I didn't always believe that statement and honestly sometimes I have to take a deep breath and say these words out loud. Living in fear of the 'what ifs' was a crippling pastime of my younger years. 'What if my husband leaves me? What if something happens to my son? What if I don't have enough money? What if I am excluded? What if I get really sick?'
We can rush about our daily lives and not realize that one of these 'what if' tapes in running in the background. When our refrigerator stops cooling there is a sudden quiet that settles over the house and I realize I've been unconsciously hearing a low drumming sound. That's how 'what ifs' play in our lives if they are not slamming us in the face around every corner.
The impulse to avoid feeling our fears can lead us to drugs, food, alcohol, work, exercise, blaming, complaining and more. These fears are often fueled by the 'what ifs'. The fear of losing our job, of a natural disaster, of being victimized, etc.
When we make an effort on a daily basis to love and accept ourselves; to believe in ourselves; to trust ourselves; we create a strong foundation to carry us over the rough patches. When we tap into a deeper understanding of what we are capable of and how our we can use our strengths to support our lives, we have the tools to handle anything that comes our way. When we believe that there is divine energy, divine synchronicity at work, at all times in our lives and in the universe we can breathe a little easier when things happen around us. Because ... no matter what ... we'll be okay.
